A stable OH3+–cyclic polyether complex characterised by infrared spectroscopy

Abstract

A cyclic polyether complex of composition HClO4,H2O,C20H26O6 has been obtained by precipitation from aqueous solution in the presence of excess of HClO4 and has been shown by i.r. spectra to be the oxonium complex, [OH3,C20H36O6+][ClO4].
