Homogeneous platinum(II)-catalysed hydrogen–deuterium exchange at a saturated carbon atom

Abstract

In the presence of a homogeneous platinum catalyst alkenes of the type RC(CH3)2CH[triple bond, length half m-dash]CH2, (R = C2H5, C3H7, or C4H9) undergo hydrogen–deuterium exchange in the alkyl part of the molecule almost exclusively at C-5.
