Cycloadditions of 3,4-diazanorcaradienes with benzyne and 1-diethylaminopropyne

Abstract

Cycloaddition of benzyne and 1-diethylamino-propyne with 2,5-disubstituted-3,4-diazanorcaradienes (1) affords, after nitrogen extrusion, cycloheptatriene derivatives (3ac) and (4a) and as such constitutes a new synthetic route to cyclohepta-1,3,5-trienes.
