Thermodynamics and kinetics of ion-pair formation in aprotic solvents

Abstract

The thermodynamics and kinetics of ion-pair formation in aprotic solvents exhibit a pronounced solvent dependence, indicating the need for extensive solvent reorganisation around the ion-pair complex; in dichloromethane solvent, dimeric ion-pair species are additionally formed.
