Base catalysed dehydration of α-alkoxybenzyl hydroperoxides: applications to zwitterion trapping reactions in ozonolysis

Abstract

α-Alkoxybenzyl hydroperoxides are converted rapidly and quantitatively at room temperature into the corresponding alkyl benzoates by primary, secondary, and tertiary amines and by dimethyl sulphoxide.
