Molecular structure of cyclo-[bis-(µ-acetato-µ-nitrosyl)-bis(di-µ-acetatodiplatinum)] and some aspects of the preparation of diacetatoplatinum(II)

Abstract

A product of the preparation of diacetatoplatinum(II) by the reduction of PtIV in nitric acid–acetic acid has been shown by X-ray structure analysis to contain bridging nitrosyl as well as bridging acetato-groups and to have a molecular formula Pt4(acetate)6-(NO)2.
