Lithiotriphenylphosphinioacetonide, a new type of 1,3-dianion

Abstract

Triphenylphosphinioacetonide (2) undergoes selective metallation with n-butyl-lithium to afford the novel 1,3-dianion (3) as evidenced by deuteriation and condensations with electrophiles.
