Treatment with acid of a p-quinol acetate derived from (±)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-6-methoxy-2-methyl-1-[β-(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)ethyl]isoquinolin-7-ol gave (±)-O-acetylkreysigine in 18% yield.
