Biosynthesis of tutin from (4R)-[4-3H1]mevalonic acid

Abstract

Tutin from (4R)-[4-3H1]mevalonic acid retains one tritium atom at C-4, thus excluding a double 1–2 hydride shift during the cyclization steps of its biosynthesis.
