Fluxional behaviour of some cluster complexes of osmium containing C6H4 as ligands

Abstract

The C6H4 ligands in the complexes Os3H(C6H4)-(PMe2)(CO)9(A) and Os3(C6H4)(PMe2)2(CO)7(B), synthesised from Os3(CO)12 and PMe2Ph, undergo rapid rotation relative to the Os3 ring, a process which necessitates a carbonyl transfer between osmium atoms in the case of complex (B)[ΔG(Tc) values are 13·6 and 13·9 kcal mol–1 for (A) and (B) respectively].
