Catalysis in ester hydrolysis by a cationic detergent containing an imidazole group at the polar head

Abstract

4-(Dimethylstearyl)methylimidazolylammonium chloride (I) was found to be an effective catalyst in the hydrolysis of p-nitrophenyl acetate.
