Two bis(substituted silyl)bipyridylnickel(II) complexes have been prepared by the reaction of diethyl(bipyridyl)nickel(II) with HSiCl3 or HSiMeCl2, which react with HCl and DCl to form, respectively, the corresponding hydrosilanes and deuteriosilanes.
