Hydrogenation of ethylene on tungsten disulphide
Abstract
The adsorption of ethylene and hydrogen on a tungsten disulphide surface during the course of catalytic hydrogenation at 150°C was measured as well as the over-all reaction rate. No direct correlation exists between the rate and the amounts of adsorbed species, whence the existence of an adsorbed species on the catalyst surface during the reaction does not necessarily prove that it is a real reaction intermediate.
