Determination by the mass spectrometric Knudsen cell method of the atomization energies of the gaseous aluminium chalcogenides, Al2, AlCu, AlCuS and AlCuS2

Abstract

The dissociation or atomization energies of the following aluminium sulphides, selenides and tellurides were determined to be (in kJ mol–1): D°0(AlS)= 370±8; D°0(AlSe)= 334±10; D°0(AlTe)= 264±10 D°0,at(Al2S)= 709±13; D°0,at(Al2Se)= 666±19; D°0,at(Al2Te)= 536±17 D°0,at(Al2S2)= 1127±26; D°0,at(Al2Se2)= 1043±25; D°0,at(Al2 Te2)⩽870±27 In addition the dissociation or atomization energies of the following gaseous molecules were determined: D°0(Al2)= 172±18, D°0(AlCu)= 207±15, D°0,at(AlCuS)= 651±20 and D0,at(AlCuS2)= 1044±29 kJ mol–1.
