E.s.r. study of effect of changes in cation and solvent on arrhenius parameters for intramolecular cation jumping in a semiquinone

Abstract

From e.s.r. linewidth observations the rates of intramolecular cation jumping for ion pairs formed by 2,5-ditertiarybutylparabenzosemiquinone and alkali metals have been measured over the temperature range –80 to 100°C and in a number of ether solvents. The activation energies and preexponential factors have been obtained for seven ion pair systems. Trends in these Arrhenius parameters have been discussed.
