Preparation and reactions of triphenylarsonium cyclopentadienylide

Abstract

Triphenylarsonium cyclopentadienylide has been prepared. It is a stable crystalline compound, soluble in acid and susceptible to electrophilic substitution (e.g. diazonium coupling), and is cleaved by aldehydes. Tri-p-tolyl- and tris-p-methoxyphenyl-arsonium cyclopentadienylides have also been prepared.
