Novel tricarbonyldieneiron complexes from the reaction of 2-bromobuta-1,3-diene with carbonylirons

Abstract

Reaction of 2-bromobuta-1,3-diene with carbonylirons gives the di(tricarbonyldieneiron): hexacarbonyl-(3,4-dimethylenehexa-1,5-diene)di-iron (III), the di(tricarbonyldieneiron)ketone: hexacarbonyl-(3,5-dimethylenehepta-1,6-dien-4-one)di-iron (V), tricarbonyl-(2-methylenebut-3-enoic acid)iron (VI), nonacarbonyl-(3,5-dimethylene-4-methylnona-1,8-dien-6-yne)tri-iron (IV), tricarbonyl-2-bromobuta-1,3-dieneiron (I) and tricarbonylbuta-1,3-dieneiron (II). The mechanism of formation of these complexes is discussed and two novel pairs of diastereomers are described.
