Sesquiterpenes. Part V. Some tricyclic undecanols and related β-iso-propyldecalols
Abstract
The preparation and configuration of the tricyclic undecanols (IV), (V), and (VI) and the bicyclic decalols (VII), (VIII), (IX) and (X) are reported. Infrared spectroscopic correlations of C–OH and O–H stretching frequencies have been examined. The reductions of the ketones (XI), (XII), (XIII), and (XIV) with Na–EtOH and with LiAlH4–AlCl3(under kinetic control) are examined too.
