The chemistry of ortho-benzoquinones. Part V. Cycloaddition reactions of indane-5,6-quinone, 5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-2,3-naphthoquinone, and of 4,5-dimethyl-1,2-benzoquinone with cyclopenadiene

Abstract

Indane-5,6-quinone, tetrahydro-2,3-naphthoquinone, and 4,5-dimethyl-1,2-benzoquinone reacted with cyclopentadiene in benzene solution to yield adducts in which the quinone had behaved as the diene and cyclopentadiene as the dienophile.
