Fulvenes and thermochromic ethylenes. Part LIX. The reaction of diphenylcyclopropenone with cyanoacetic acid

Abstract

The condensation of diphenylcyclopropenone with cyanoacetic acid leads unexpectedly to 4-cyano-4-cyanoacetyl-1,2-diphenyltriafulvene (IV). A possible mechanism for this condensation is suggested.
