Studies in the dithiocarbamate series. Part III. Mechanistic studies on the reaction of N-benzylpiperidines and N-benzylpyrrolidines with carbon disulphide

Abstract

The mechanism of the formation of certain p-hydroxybenzyldithiocarbamates from N-(p-hydroxybenzyl)piperidines (and pyrrolidines) and carbon disulphide has been further studied. Evidence is presented which indicates that the reaction involves the participation of a p-quinone methide intermediate.
