(1RS,2RS)-trans-Cyclo-oct-2-en-1-ol has been synthesised by hydrolysis of exo-8-bromobicyclo[5,1,0]octane in buffered aqueous dioxan at 100°. It is isomerised to cis-cyclo-oct-2-en-1-ol when heated with silver nitrate in aqueous dioxan.
