Constituents of the sporophores of F. fomentarius. F. annosus, and F. pini include ergosta-7,22-dien-3β-ol and the corresponding stearate, ergosterol, ergosta-7,22-dien-3-one, ergosta-4,7,22-trien-3-one, lanost-8-en-3β-ol, lanosta-7,9-dien-3β-ol, betulin, tetracosane, esters of stearic and eicosanoic acid, trehalose, mannitol, ribitol, and ‘chagi’-like material derived from lignin.
