The conversion of labdadienols into pimara- and rosa-dienes

Abstract

Manool (1a), 13-epi-manool (1b), and the related alcohols (5) and (6) have been converted by acid via the pimaradienes (2a and b) into rosadienes (3a and b). Prolonged treatment with acid leads to abieta-rosadienes such as (25).
