Naturally occurring compounds related to phenalenone. Part I. The synthesis of lachnanthocarpone

Abstract

The structure previously assigned to lachnanthocarpone (XII; R1= R2= H) has been confirmed by an unambiguous nine-stage synthesis of the compound from γ-(4,5-dimethoxy-2-methyl)phenylbutyric acid (II; R = H2).
