Structure of 2-phenylisatogen N-oxime: crystal and molecular structure of the 4-bromobenzoylation product of 2-phenylisatogen N-oxime

Abstract

Oximation of 2-phenylisatogen (1) furnishes a mixture of 2-phenylisatogen oxime (2) and an isomer, formerly named 2-phenylisatogen N-oxime. Crystal structure analysis of the 4-bromobenzoylation product (10) of the latter isomer indicates the structure 3-benzoyl-2,1-benzisoxazole oxime (8) for the N-oxime. The mass spectral data for (10) are also reported. A new synthesis of 3-benzoyl-2,1-benzisoxazole (9) is described.
