Transmission of polar effects. Part XIII. The polar effects of para-acyl and -aroyl groups

Abstract

The pKa values of a series of para-acyl and -aroylbenzoic acids have been measured in water and 80% 2-methoxy-ethanol–water at 25 °C. Their values are discussed and substituent constants are evaluated.
