Rhodium complexes containing the trihalogenotin group

Abstract

Complexes of the general types, [Rh(CO)(SnX3)X2]2–(X = Cl, l), [Rh(CO)(SnX3)2X]2–(X = Cl, Br) and [Rh(CO)(SnX3)3]2–(X = Cl, Br) have been isolated by reacting halogenocarbonylrhodium solutions with the respective tin(II) halide. Various in situ reactions of these rhodium–tin solutions have been carried out, often with replacement of the trihalogenotin group. I.r. spectra in both the carbonyl (1800–2200 cm–1) and far-i.r. (60–400 cm–1) regions are discussed.
