Studies on some alkenyliron compounds

Abstract

The σ-but-3-enyl derivatives (π-C5H5)Fe(CO)2(σ-CH2·CR2·CH[double bond, length half m-dash]CH2), (R = H or Me) have been prepared. Irradiation of the compound where R = Me gives the heterocyclic compound (π-C5H5)(CO)[graphic omitted]CH2. The metal–ligand bonding in this compound is discussed. The but-3-enyl compounds decompose thermally giving the cyclic acyl derivatives (π-C5H5)(CO)[graphic omitted]CH2.
