The vibrational spectra of the carboranes. Part I. The small closo-carboranes C2B3H5, 1,6-C2B4H6, and C2B5H7

Abstract

The Raman spectra of C2B3H5, 1,6-C2B4H6, and C2B5H7 are presented, together with qualitative intensities and states of polarisation. Vibrational assignments are given, using both Raman and remeasured i.r. data. The vibrational frequencies are partially correlated with the bonding in the polyhedral frameworks.
