The spectra and structure of aluminium chloride complexes. Part III. The strengths of a series of ligands towards aluminium chloride

Abstract

Ligand strength with respect to aluminium chloride, has been shown to increase along the series COCl2, MeNO2, PhNO2, PhCOCl, Me2O, Ph2CO, Et2O, HCO2Me, MeCN, and Cl by interpretation of the i.r. spectra of solution in which these ligands compete for the AlCl3.
