Carbon compounds of the transition metals. Part XXIII. Crystal and molecular structure of tricarbonyl(bicyclo[4,4,1]undeca-1,3,5-triene)chromium

Abstract

Tricarbonyl(bicyclo[4,4,1]undeca-1,3,5-triene)chromium crystallises in the orthorhombic system with Z= 4 in a unit cell of dimensions a= 17·14, b= 10·21, c= 7·04 Å, space group Pnma. The analysis is based on 950 reflexions visually estimated from Mo-Kα precession photographs, and a partially disordered structure has been refined to R 7·0%. The ligand contains a six π-electron homoaromatic ring in which the C(1)–C(6) separation is 1·72(2)Å.
