The electronic spectra, magnetic susceptibilities, and e.s.r. spectra have been determined over a temperature range (98–298 K) for a number of tetrakis(dialkylamido)niobium(IV) compounds Nb(NR2)4. The results are discussed in terms of a distorted (D2d) tetrahedral configuration for the NbN4 group. The mass spectrum of Nb(NEt2)4 is reported.
