Bis-π-cyclopentadienyl–molybdenum and –tungsten complexes containing sulphur, phosphorus, nitrogen or hydrogen ligands

Abstract

The complexes [(π-C5H5)2Mo(SRMe)X]+PF6(R = Me, X = Cl or Br; and R = allyl, X = Cl) have been prepared. They react with ligands L, forming the complexes [(π-C5H5)2MoLX]+PF6[L = PPh3, P(OPh)3, PPh2H, 1,2-bisdiphenylphosphinoethane, P(Bun)3 or pyridine, X = Br; and L = PPh3 or P(OPh)3, X = Cl or I). Some analogous tungsten complexes are described. The complexes [(π-C5H5)2M(PR3)Br]+PF6(M = Mo, R = Ph; or M = W, R = OMe or Ph) with sodium borohydride give the hydrides [(π-C5H5)2Mo(PR3)H]+PF6.
