Crystal and molecular structure of bistriphenylphosphinecadmium(II) chloride

Abstract

The structure of bistriphenylphosphinecadmium(II) chloride has been determined by a single-crystal X-ray analysis. The crystals are orthorhombic with Z= 4 in a unit cell of dimensions a= 17·77, b= 10·05, c= 18·89 Å. The structure was solved by the heavy-atom method and refined by least-squares calculations to R= 0·098 for 2260 reflexions. The analysis has revealed tetrahedral co-ordination around the cadmium atom, a result predicted by far-infrared spectroscopic studies.
