Thermal properties of transition-metal compounds. Part V. Heat capacity measurements on [NMe4]2MCl4(M = iron, cobalt, or copper), [NEt4]2CuCl4, and Cs2CoCl4

Abstract

An adiabatic vacuum calorimeter has been used to measure the heat capacity of [NMe4]2MCl4(M = Fe, Co, or Cu), [NEt4]2CuCl4, Cs2COCl4 at 20–310 K. The enthalpy and entropy increments associated with the thermal transformations observed in the tetra-alkylammonium complexes have been determined. An attempt has been made to interpret the transitional entropy increments associated with these transformations in terms of the orientational disordering of the tetrahedral anion and cation.
