The infrared spectra (40–3000 cm–1) of potassium hexacyanoferrate and potassium hexacyanocobaltate

Abstract

The polarised i.r. reflectance spectra of various crystal orientations of K3Fe(CN)6 and K3Co(CN)6 from 40–400 cm–1 show most of the bands predicted by factor group analysis in this region, and permit the assignment of these bands to the appropriate symmetry species. The frequencies of fundamental modes above 400 cm–1 and combination bands were obtained from the transmission spectra of single crystals and powdered samples.
