Factors influencing the preparation of the cyclic phosphonitrilic chlorides
Abstract
The reaction of phosphorus pentachloride and ammonium chloride in a solvent has been studied. The relative yields of the various cyclic phosphonitrilic chlorides depend upon many variables and especially the type and volume of the solvent. Other factors which can influence the reaction are the nature of the ammonium chloride and the addition of phosphorus oxychloride. A reaction is also described for producing (NPCl2)3 in high yield in only 2·5 h.
