Some hydroxycyclo-octenyl complexes of palladium(II)

Abstract

Treatment of potassium tetrachloropalladite with cyclo-octa-1,5-diene in aqueous sodium carbonate in the presence of bromide ion gives di-µ-bromo-bis-(2-hydroxycyclo-oct-5-enyl)dipalladium. The preformed diene complex, 2,2,6,6-tetramethylheptane-3,5-dionato(cyclo-octa-1,5-diene)palladium tetrafluoroborate gives a hydroxycyclo-octenyl complex with aqueous sodium carbonate. A convenient preparation of the above cationic diene complex (and some similar complexes) is reported.
