Four-, five-, and six-co-ordinate cationic isonitrile cationic isonitrile complexes of rhodium and iridium

Abstract

The isonitrile complexes, [M(CNR)4]+, [M(PPh3)2(CNR)2]+, and [M(PPh3)2(CNR)3]+(M = Rh or Ir; R = alkyl or aryl) have been prepared, and undergo oxidative-addition reactions giving [M(CNR)4XY]+[M(PPh3)2(CNR)2XY]+, [M(PPh3)2(CNR)3X]2+, and [M(PPh3)2(CNR)2Y2]+, (X = halogen, methyl, acyl, allyl, HgCl, SnCl3; Y = halogen).
