Cycloadditions of a carbonyl ylide from 2,3-dicyano-2,3-diphenyloxiran

Abstract

trans- and cis-Dicyanostilbene oxides establish an equilibrium at 100–120°via carbonyl ylides; the carbonyl ylide intermediate is a 1,3-dipole and undergoes cycloadditions with a variety of acetylenic and olefinic dipolarophiles.
