Complexes trans-[PtMe(L)Q2]+PF6–(Q = PMe2Ph or AsMe3 and L = an acetylene or allene) show reactivity characteristic of carbonium ions and lead to a variety of products by intramolecular rearrangements and/or nucleophilic addition.
