Piper's model for optical activity: absolute configurations of the complex ions, (+)589[Cr(malonate)3]3–, (+)546[Co(malonate)2(ethylenediamine)], and (+)589[Cr(oxalate)3]3–

Abstract

The absolute configurations of the title ions have been assigned as Λ, Δ, and Λ by X-ray studies; the first and third structures support Piper's model for optical activity.
