A new synthesis of nitrones from aromatic nitro-compounds and carbanions by nucleophilic replacement of hydrogen

Abstract

Diphenylacetonitile and some nitrobenzenes in the presence of saturated KOH or MeONa in methanol react to yield substituted triaryl nitrones.
