Stereoselective synthesis of phosphonothionates from phosphonate analogues: basic hydrolysis of chiral phosphonothionates to a racemic product

Abstract

Chiral phosphonates reacted with P4S10 to give their thionoanalogues with predominant (if not complete) retention of configuration; basic hydrolysis of the phosphonothionates gave completely recemic products.
