Ferrocenyl radical and nitrene: formation of nitroferrocene with oxygen

Abstract

Photolysis and thermolysis of ferrocenyl azide produce the ferrocenyl radical and the nitrene which in the presence of oxygen give nitroferrocene in reasonable yields, while with cyclohexane an aziridine is formed.
