Synthesis and crystal structure of the tris(hexafluoroacetylacetonato)copper(II) salt of monoprotonated 1,8-bis(dimethylamino)naphthalene and of the isomorphous magnesium derivative

Abstract

The compound [C14H19N2]+[(CF3CO·CH·CO·CF3)3Cu] has been synthesised and its constitution established by X-ray crystal structure analysis; the Cu–O bonds, four short and two long, contrast with six equal Mg–O lengths in the isomorphous magnesium derivative.
