Force constants and Coriolis coupling constants in methyl-, silyl-, and germylacetylenes

Abstract

The valence force constants governing the normal vibrations of the methyl-, silyl- and germyl- acetylenes have been calculated together with the associated Coriolis coupling constants. Some inadequacies of the vibrational assignments are commented upon and the importance of dπ—pπ bonding in these molecules is discussed.
