Thermodynamic considerations on the various contributions to overpotential. Part 2

Abstract

The simplifying assumptions most commonly made in the phenomenological treatment of electrode processes with regard to the concept of overpotential are critically examined. Furthermore, a general procedure is outlined in order to derive the phenomenological relations between current density and potential on the basis of the concepts of diffusion layer and reaction layer.
