Hydrogen abstraction reactions of CF2Cl· radicals

Abstract

1,3-Dichloroetetrafluoroacetone has been photolyzed at 313 nm in the presence of a number of fluorinated alicyclic hydrocarbons. Arrhenius parameters for the hydrogen abstraction reaction(1) CF2Cl·+ RH → CF2ClH + R·(1), have been determined, where R is the residue of a fluorinated alicyclic hydrocarbon. The hydrogen isotope effect for the reaction in which R = C6F11 is RH/RD= 2.6 . The effect of the size of the alicyclic ring, the number of hydrogen atoms in the substrate molecule and of isomerism upon the magnitude of the Arrhenius parameters has been investigated.
